NSW: Herald journalist seeks psychiatric assessment
A Sydney Morning Herald reporter has had charges of assaulting a man and possessing
a prohibited weapon adjourned .. so he can seek psychiatric assessment.
34-year-old STEPHEN JOHN GIBBS appeared in the Downing Centre Local Court today ..
accused of assaulting 25-year-old STEVEN JACKSON outside a Surry Hills hotel early on
Saturday .. July 22.
GIBBS' lawyer ANDREW O'BRIEN told the court .. the earliest his client can get in to
see forensic psychiatrist Dr BRUCE WESTMORE .. is October.
Deputy Registrar PAUL MORGAN continued bail and adjourned the matter until November 2.
