TAS: Handcuffed juvenile escapes custody
A juvenile prisoner is on the run in northern Tasmania after escaping custody while
being transferred to court today.
The 16-year-old boy was handcuffed and had been accompanied by two escorting officers.
Ashley Youth Detention Centre manager BILL SMITH says the youth escaped custody just
after noon when the vehicle in which he was a passenger stopped at traffic lights en route
to Launceston Magistrates Court.
