QLD: Historic tree clearing laws passed
The Queensland Parliament has passed historic new laws to phase-out broadscale land
clearing in the state by the end of 2006.
Natural Resources Minister STEPHEN ROBERTSON says the passage of the legislation delivers
on a government election commitment.
As well as phasing out broadscale land clearing, the legislation will see a $150 million
financial assistance package to assist affected landholders and new vegetation management
codes.
